One of the oldest knife makers in Germany, Friedr. Herder Abr. Sohn traces its history to 1623, when Arndt Jürgen and Wilhelm Herder made swords and knives for the Thirty Years’ War. In 1840 Friedrich Herder registered “Friedr. Herder Abr. Sohn”, and in 1848 the crossed-keys logo was trademarked, entering the Solingen commercial register on 20 December 1888.
