Herder & Sohn, Stahlwarenfabrik, began in 1923 in Solingen-Ohligs and registered with the Solingen Chamber of Commerce on 18 November 1927, making kitchen, fruit and vegetable knives and razor blades. In 1930 it registered a trademark of the philosopher Diogenes carrying a lamp.
