WKC dates back to the 1500s, when one of the first sword trademarks was registered by the blacksmith Johannes Wundes in 1560 — one of the longest-used trademarks in Solingen. In 1573 Wilhelm Weyersberg, an ancestor of the WKC founders, became mayor of Solingen, at a time when the guild-organised “Solingen method” strictly separated forging, hardening, grinding and polishing.

“Absolutely stunning in every aspect. So much background information that has been missed in other books. Definitely worth the price.”
