Hermann Schneider Stahlwarenfabrik was founded in 1848 and registered with the Solingen Chamber of Commerce on 21 January 1873. In June 1850 Isaak Schneider registered the ship trademark (Schiffmarke). In 1862 the company passed to his sons Hermann and Robert as “I. Schneider Söhne”, renamed Hermann Schneider after Isaak’s death. In 1895 it registered the two-masted sailing ship with “Schneider” on the hull. It specialised in scissors, household knives, straight razors and pocket and eraser knives, “exporting to all countries”.
